Pictures Reunion May 2010
Thank you Dindo for creating this Blogger for our MHS Class 70. It will really help a lot in communicating with our batchmates. Although it was too hot in Mdque, I enjoyed very much our last May 2010 Class 70 Reunion. I wish and hope more of our batchmates will attend. Danny Lim

Father's Day Special
The Joke's on Dad
Double the fun of Dad's special day with our funny Father's Day jokes!
Compiled by Amy Zerello
Dad holds a special place in our hearts, and on Father's Day, he deserves the best! Pass our funniest fatherhood submissions on to a dad in your life and share the priceless gift of laughter!
The Right Choice
My 16-year-old brother, Ryan, was out late with friends one night. Suddenly he realized it was Father's Day and he had neglected to buy a card for our dad. After much searching, Ryan located an open store, but was disappointed to find only two cards left on a picked-over rack. Selecting one, he brought it home and, somewhat sheepishly, presented it to our father.
Upon opening it, Dad read this message: "You've been like a father to me." He looked at Ryan, puzzled.
"Well, Dad," Ryan tried to explain, "it was either that or the card that said, 'Now that I'm a father too!'"

Thanks for the Soda, Pop!
Before I took the old family car to college, my father loaded the trunk with soft-drink bottles filled with oil, coolant and transmission fluid. Sure enough, my car overheated. Scolding myself for not listening to my father's instructions, I looked at the engine and saw how well he knew me. The oil cap was labeled Dr Pepper, the transmission stick, Coke, and the empty coolant container, Diet Pepsi. I finished the trip safely.

Say What, Dad?
Our Gen-X daughter, Cristie, made my husband a Father's Day card entitled "Things My Dad Would Never Say." Such as:
"Can you turn up that music?"
"Go ahead and take my truck. Here's 50 bucks for gas."
"I LOVE your tattoo. We should both get new ones."
"Here, you take the remote."

Watch the Wash, Dad...
I decided to make myself useful and do a load of the family laundry. When I took the clothes out of the machine, I discovered -- to my dismay -- that I had also washed the watch my wife had given me while we were dating. "Don't expect me to replace it," she said later with an obvious lack of sympathy. By the time Father's Day rolled around, however, she had relented and gave me a beautiful new watch. Attached was a note with this stipulation: "DRY-CLEAN ONLY!"

What a Card!
Father's Day was near when I brought my three-year-old son, Tyler, to the card store. Inside, I showed him the cards for dads and told him to pick one.
When I looked back, Tyler was picking up one card after another, opening them up and quickly shoving them back into slots, every which way. "Tyler, what are you doing?" I asked. "Haven't you found a nice card for Daddy yet?"
"No," he replied. "I'm looking for one with money in it."

Papa Bear
My husband's cousin married a former Marine who now works for United Parcel Service. They bought their four-year-old son two stuffed bears -- one in a UPS uniform and the other in Marine garb. When the boy seemed confused, his father brought out a picture of himself in full Marine dress. "See, Connor?" he explained, pointing to the photo and then to the bear. "That's Daddy."
Connor's eyes went from one to the other, and then he asked in a puzzled voice, "You used to be a bear?"

Pop Vs. Pup
While flying from Denver to Kansas City, Kansas, my mother was sitting across the aisle from a woman and her eight-year-old son. Mom couldn't help laughing as they neared their destination and she heard the mother say to the boy, "Now remember -- run to Dad first, then the dog."

Paternal Payback
On the day I received my learner's permit, my father agreed to take me out for a driving lesson. With a big grin, he hopped in behind the driver's seat. "Why aren't you sitting up front on the passenger's side?" I asked.
"Kirsten, I've been waiting for this ever since you were a little girl," Dad replied. "Now it's my turn to sit back here and kick the seat."

No. 1 on Our List -- Literally!
My father was completely lost in the kitchen and never ate unless someone prepared a meal for him. When Mother was ill, however, he volunteered to go to the supermarket for her. She sent him off with a carefully numbered list of seven items.
Dad returned shortly, very proud of himself, and proceeded to unpack the grocery bags. He had one bag of sugar, two dozen eggs, three hams, four boxes of detergent, five boxes of crackers, six eggplants, and seven green peppers.

Music Library
"Music was my first love... and it will be my last."
Music Library...where we share favorite tunes and albums. Oldies but goodies or current hits. The 60's will surely bring a torrent of memories, starting with...
In High School, the Cascades were everybody's favorite group. Guess they still are...
They were rumored dead due to that plane crash in early 70’s which scattered around this country. It made others grieve and mourn for their loss. Fortunately, it was just that - a rumor.
No matter what.
The Cascades were born in 1960 aboard the U.S.S. Jason AR-8; a ship home-ported in San Diego and when overseas, in Sasebo, Japan. This group, then known to many of the servicemen and the local inhabitants as The Silver Strands were playing at local venues all around town. Their friend, John Gummoe, also aboard the Jason was their biggest fan and soon began acting as their manager. John had the band playing 5 nights a week before long and had also been working up some duets with Dave Wilson which the group eventually had David and John do on stage as part of their performance. This was the beginning of a group which would soon go on to be The Cascades and they would eventually have the third largest selling record in the world in 1963.
This album contains not only the certified hits of the group [tracks 1- 13] but other rare Cascasde's songs that you may not have heard before [tracks 14 downwards].

Why do we need a website?
Welcome to your blog, your very own website... where you can post messages to your former schoolmates, organize group activities, or just keep in touch.
This site is still under construction... so don't expect the bells and whistles yet... just a rush job, so to speak, inspired by seeing and bonding once again with classmates via a two-day reunion held May 29-30, 2010.
With collective inputs from everybody, we mean everybody from Class 70, its pages and entries will grow and grow... and then some. Later, its appearance will not only improve but its contents will be more organized. To achieve that, these pages need inputs by way of contents and substance from all of us.
In high school, some of the more daring love to write grafitti on the school walls [rest rooms were a favorite]. Now, fourty short years later, we can scrawl them here to our hearts content. Remember that long-time crush you had during 3rd Year that you never had the chance to say 'luv u.' Gather your guts, now's your chance, say it here!
Facebook, Friendster, and other social networking sites are good but it's too public for semi-private topics that only your uber classmates will comprehend.. Try mo saying 'Mxxx, crush ko u during hi-skol, Signed Txx' and you'll draw frowns from your facebook friends. Post them here and you'll surely draw collective chuckles... and applause!
Moreover, kung me racket ka [read business, professional service, etc} that the rest of us need to know, post mo dito.
Also, an email address has been created for the members for sending private messages to each other, sort of an email exchange link where we can trade mobile phone numbers, landlines, addresses, etc. Here we go - mhsbatch70@gmail.com
The comments section are open for Class 70 members. Ke tagalog, bisaya, taglish, kahit jejemon pwidÊĘh... este pwede... hrmm.. Small Talk, Big Talk. Just click on comments [below] and fire away.
Feel free to leave your messages...

Why Class 70 needs a website is just like asking - Why do our school need and use a Bulletin Board, then and now? This online site serves that purpose. And much more. Updates, events planning, online collaboration, info that you as part of this amazing oftentimes 'nutty' batch want the rest of us to know about - from serious, more formal matters to... otherwise, du'h.
